The back of the ferry dropped, and we caught our first glimpse of the Greek Islands. Pure magic!
Rocky islands jetting out of the vast ocean, buzzing with life. The dried golden fields separating towns built on top of one another in smooth white were unlike anything I’d ever seen.
It was easy to get lost in the maze of alleys but they all seem to end up at the sea, so I never really felt lost at all.
Curtis and I made our home base for the month in Paros. The island was incredible, from a busy town full of life and restaurants, to the most beautiful beaches and shorelines. I couldn't believe the color of the water. It was the perfect temperature to jump in and cool off.
Every weekend we traveled to a different island- Mykonos, Andros and Santorini. We finished up with a few days in Athens before our flight home.
In my sketchbook, I collected curved shapes, colors in a range of creams and blues, and all the bougainvillea you can imagine.
The dark red cliffs of Santorini against the peach sky sunsetting sky was a color combo that I was trying to capture. I can't stop thinking about the lush path down to the Agios Sostis Beach in Mykonos - flowers blooming everywhere. Then of course the magic of Andros - like you are stepping back in time. I will never forget painting while being sprayed with sea water. What a dream!
So - enjoy! Our month in Greece through the 'lens' of my brushes!
I hope you will feel the warm breeze of the Aegean sea as you walk the streets of Greece through these paintings.Available Oct 28 at 10am EST
