Introducing our collaboration with Beau + Ro
A little over a year ago, I dove head first into creating patterns for this dress collection. Skimming through all my sketchbooks, I pulled drawings and paintings that felt fresh and interesting. I wanted the dresses to feel like my large scale paintings, without actually putting an entire painting on the dress. So, I pulled my paintings apart, and then put them back together in a new way. Then, the team at Beau + Ro took each pattern and worked with their factory in India to design the dresses.
Once the designs were finalized, Sara, the founder of Beau & Ro, traveled to Andros, Greece to join Blakely for her annual artist retreat at Melisses. While there, they were able to capture the dresses at the very location that inspired so many of the paintings featured in this collection.
